
Getting Your SACMI Rotary System Up to Speed
If you’re running SACMI rotary blow molding machines, you know they move fast. Like, really fast. But here’s the problem: if your heating lamps take forever to warm up or can’t hold the right temperature, you’re in trouble. You end up with unevenly heated preforms and, eventually, a pile of deformed bottles. It’s frustrating, and it kills your productivity. That’s why we built our quartz heater tubes to stop the lag. We wanted something that hits the target temperature almost instantly.
The Secret to the Heat
To keep up with the rhythm of a rotary machine, you need power density. We use high-purity fused quartz and fill it with halogen gas. This lets the tungsten filament get screaming hot without just burning itself out. The result? The tube hits full power in seconds. One quick tip: make sure your voltage and wattage match your power supply perfectly. If they’re off, you’ll get cold spots or the filament will snap way too soon. We calibrate the ohms specifically so the heat hits the PET preform exactly where it needs to.
Fit and Feel
Nobody wants to spend hours modifying a housing just to change a bulb. Our tubes use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors, so they’re basically drop-in replacements. You just wire them up and get back to work. We also use heavy-wall quartz. Why? Because thin glass bows when it gets hot. These stay straight and sturdy. And if you’re struggling with the neck of the bottle overheating, we’ve got coated options. These shift the infrared spectrum, pushing the heat into the walls of the preform while leaving the neck alone.
A Word of Caution
Here’s the deal: high-wattage tubes put out a massive amount of heat. It’s great for a fast start, but it puts a lot of pressure on your cooling fans. If your airflow is blocked or your cooling system is struggling, your lamp sockets can actually start to degrade. Keep those fans clear. It’s a small detail, but it saves you from melting your connectors and dealing with another headache.
