They’re bright enough to wake you up, sure, but the heat is patchy. You’re warm in one spot and shivering in another. That’s why we’re moving toward IP44-rated infrared (IR) panels. They just make more sense for a bathroom. Dealing with the damp Bathrooms are tough on electronics. Between the steam from the shower and the occasional splash, things get wet. That “IP44” label isn’t just technical jargon—it basically means the unit is built to handle the chaos. We use sealed gaskets and hide the wiring deep inside so water can’t sneak in and trip your breaker. Those old lamp heaters? They aren’t nearly as tight. That’s why they tend to burn out or flicker when the room gets too steamy. Heat you can actually feel Here is the best part: infrared doesn’t bother trying to heat the air. Think about it. In a drafty bathroom, the second you warm the air, it escapes through the vents or under the door. IR is different. It sends out waves that warm your skin and the surfaces around you directly. It’s instant. No waiting around for the room to “warm up.” You flip the switch, and you feel it immediately. A quick word on installation Now, these things put out some serious heat. Because they’re so efficient, you have to be a little careful with where they go. If you’ve got cheap PVC or thin plastic on your ceiling, don’t mount them too close. You don’t want your ceiling warping because of a hot spot. We usually suggest keeping them at least 2.1 meters above the floor. It keeps the heat spreading evenly and protects your fixtures. Easy to swap, easier to keep clean If you already have a lighting grid, these are pretty much a drop-in replacement. As long as your circuit breaker can handle the power, the wiring is a breeze. Plus, since the elements are sealed, you can stop scrubbing dust and grime off glass bulbs. That buildup is usually what kills traditional heaters anyway. With these, you just install them and forget about them.
